You, me and Us

By

As You, me and Us-

Walk on rolling meadows,

Feet caressed by a carpet of soft grass,

The breeze, gentle, but warm,

Takes off with You, me and Us,

Through nimble clouds,

Into the clear sky that lies beyond.

But, just as You, me and Us start enjoying the freedom,

Apocalypse strikes,

Throwing me on one side of burning sand,

You and Us on the other shore.

Distraught, helpless, almost blind, me sees You and Us,

Clinging on to the branch of a tree,

Struggling to reach the safety of a hillock,

Successfully, me wished, and prayed.

But, the shadows of uncertainty continue to corner me,

Threatening to numb me sanity, forever,

Scared, me makes a dash for nowhere,

And with a startle me wakes up,

Drenched in sweat, heaving for breath,

Relieved, that it was just a nightmare, albeit a nasty nightmare.
