Monday Blues……

By

Dull, dreary and drab was the morning,

Like an old, winding, black and white filmโ€ฆ..

Head spinning with Monday Blues,

Tipsy with the hangover of Old Monk,

The overriding thought was to skip office,

Akin to when I was a mischievous schoolboy,

Always feigning for a holiday on a rainy day,

In the days of yore, which just rushed past,

Too fast- many a times I commiserate,

Never to return again, and today,

All that one can do is to scramble,

And try to accumulate, in some desperation,

A fast dissipating fragrance of priceless memoriesโ€ฆ..

An extra large Old Monk on a weekend is always good for the health……in much happier times than the ones I am presently going through- in our beautiful home in Delhi…..

In the midst of this head splitting mayhem,

My mind feels as if horses are bolting from their stables,

My knees begin to give way,

Even as my palms get moistโ€ฆ.

The sleeping beauty- clicked by best half, Sonia- again in our beautiful home in Delhi, in much happier times than the present ones that I am going through…..

To get over this rapidly overcoming gloom,

I make a Herculean effort,

To garner all the strength which I can manage,

To rein in the Blues, and reach office,

At that point in time, seeming no less dull or dreary than the morning itself,

And throw my ample body in the sarkari chair, of vintage old,

Which moans from all corners under my immense weight,

Even as I sprawl like a slothful bear, on the branch of a tree………..

With my colleague Nagender, who is more of a younger brother to me- again in much happier times than I am presently in…..in Delhi

To allow some life giving Sunlight to come in,

I lift the thick drapes from the windows,

And โ€˜Luck by chanceโ€™

Am blessed to see a spectacular display of natureโ€™s bounty,

As a spectrum of flowers, in fresh bloom,

-Blue, pink, violet, white, yellow-

Sparkle as a rainbow, after a spell of heavy monsoon shower,

Infused are they, with an ability to lift the drooping human spirit,

Like a group of sparrows, which, when they act together,

Have the power in their tiny wings, to fly off with the bird catcherโ€™s net,

And so, the web of lethargy infecting my thoughts is cleared,

Rendering me free to extend the limits of my imagination,

Creativity and thoughts, to the farthest corners of the Universeโ€ฆ..โ€ฆโ€ฆ

A good work. For all that praise of Old Monk by those who consume it. That company bringing it’s IPO to make tipplers happy. The addition of those photos from garden at Bina add fragrance to the Poem. Well captured moods of the blues

Love the way bard’s thought process poignantly captures Monday blue, which is so universal yet unique to everyone in their own way. Love the way how you brush aside the blues with an overture of positivity. Like the way the young man’s soul is curled up probably after receiving old monk’s blessings. Nagender and your’s photo is priceless. Two stalwarts captured in one frame.

One of the closest to the way at least I feel….
    I am worse in fact….
I begin to feel feverish; get headache; butterflies in the stomach….๐Ÿ˜‚

I thought I am the only one but thanks for letting me know that there are more people in the tribe…

Buddy, whether u feel it that way or not, but i have a strong feeling that we r old time soul-mate ; That u can relate to it, is a vindication that i was not wrong in penning this seemingly trivial poem…..

The positivity that u r seeing in the recent writings is all because of ur constant fatherly and affectionate nudging, and inspiring talks and messages…..i am now consciously infusing positive elements in all my writings…….if one were to compare this present version of Monday Blues with the one I wrote more than two decades ago, only then the difference in emotions will come forth….thanks for being my guiding light..

The words used are as dreary and heavy as the feelings and does justice to the underlying emotions!
A common place feeling which all the readers can relate to!
